Bharat Oman Refineries was incorporated in 1994 as a result of bilateral agreement between Government of India and Sultanate of Oman.  The shareholding of the Company was held equally by BPCL and OQ (formerly OOC) till March 2020. From 1st April 2020, the Company has become subsidiary of BPCL. Presently, the equity holding in BORL is 63.4% with BPCL and 36.6% with OQ.  The Government of Madhya Pradesh is also stakeholder in the Company.

OQ is an Oman based global integrated energy company with operations in 13 countries. It has presence across the entire hydrocarbon value chain from exploration and production to marketing.

With significant co-operation from the Government of Madhya Pradesh, BORL set up a six million tonnes per annum (6.0 MMTPA) grassroots petroleum refinery at Bina, M. P. in the serene surroundings of Bundelkhand. Dedicated to the nation in May 2011 by then Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, the refinery produced environmentally compliant fuels of BS-IV grade.
 
Since commissioning, the Company has achieved significant milestones and has recently implemented the debottlenecking project to enhance capacity from 6.0 to 7.8 MMTPA with capability to produce 100% BS-VI specifications fuel.

The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, conferred the prestigious ‘National Energy Conservation Award 2017’ for phenomenal improvement in energy conservation by the company recipient of ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ award instituted by CII.

Responding to increased demand in the Company serviced markets, we have expanded our refining capacity project in FY 2018-19 and we look forward to opportunities for growth and diversification.
